DETAILS
The Bath County Arts Association is pleased to announce the Bath County premiere of the film “Headwaters Down.” We are delighted to welcome Dietrich Teschner, Justin Black, and Will Gemma, directors of this important film, to share highlights of their experience prior to the screening of the film. A Q&A with the team will follow the film. Filmed over 13 days and across 250 miles of river, Headwaters Down is the story of the James River told through the eyes of five friends. Once the most polluted waterway in America, the James is recast as a monument to a river’s innate resilience. From the peaceful headwaters in the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Fall Line whitewater in the crew’s hometown of Richmond, VA, Headwaters Down is an exploration of the James River’s past and present and a living documentation of the many different ways in which anyone can get out and experience the beauty, history, and awesome power of this under-appreciated river. Dietrich, Justin, and Will are old friends who have been working on creative projects together for over a decade. Mutual interests in the arts and environmentalism brought them together, but it is their separate passions and talents that allow them to form a potent creative trio. Dietrich is an actor, film editor, and camera operator; Justin is a musician and visual artist; Will is a writer and storyteller. Together, this small team is capable of producing documentary films almost entirely in-house. To learn more about this film project, watch this trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-CyDOhWHrw or visit their website at https://www.headwatersdown.com/.
